Barcelona by Foot

Barcelona by Foot

When you arrive in Barcelona, Spain, the first thing you will notice is the plentitude of cobblestone streeets, narrow alleyways lined with shops that simply won’t accomodate cars of any kind, and the scores of people walking about on foot.  Barcelona is truly a city for walking.  It is made for getting from place to place on foot, but in order to do this, you simply must (and I mean MUST) have a couple of pairs of truly comfortable shoes, along with thick and absorbent socks.  The cobbled streets in this city are very ancient, and very rough.  If you think you will prance along wearing high heels or thin soled sandals or flats, think again. Walking on cobbled streets can actually be fun instead of agonizing when you have the right foot gear.  For men,...

Food in Barcelona

If you are planning to travel to Barcelona, then you are really planning to have one of the most magical experiences of your lifetime.  Seriously, everything about the city is overwhelmingly amazing.  It does not matter what you are interested in seeing, because Barcelona, Spain has it all and then some.  You can see historic buildings, impressive architecture, museums filled with timeless pieces, and beauty in even direction you turn.  Another part of Barcelona that I just adore is the food.  Clearly you will not go without eating on your trip, but there are foods that you will absolutely have to try.  If you don’t try it, you will be missing out on quite an experience. Paella is a rice dish native to Spain.  The first paella recipes are thought to...

When you are getting ready to visit Spain, or any other country in the world, it’s important to be in great shape. Sure, there are other things to make sure you have lined up ahead of foreign travel, like adt security for your home and someone to drop by to feed the pets. You might even want to just board your pets somewhere since you will probably be gone for an extended time for your travel to parts of Barcelona or Madrid. Either way, being in shape is important and Jillian Michaels is a celebrity among personal trainers. Once overweight herself, she now works with the elite of Hollywood and helps out on The Biggest Loser, the American reality program about obese people getting into shape. If you are in great shape while vacationing in Spain or Europe,...

The Sagrada Familia is a huge Roman Catholic...

Who Makes the Wines

Who Makes the Wines

I’m not sure if I know of anyone who does not enjoy a glass of wine from time to time.  And if you’re like me, you may enjoy a good bottle of wine depending on the crowd you are with.  Recently I have had a lot of friends talking about traveling just for wine though.  At first I was just thinking that they meant going to Napa Valley, California and touring wineries, but they were talking large scale apparently.  For instance visiting other countries who are the top producers in wines.  The United States is actually the fourth largest maker of wine in the world, but like I said these friends want to go big. A couple of these friends are taking a month trip to Europe to visit Italy, France, and then coming back through Spain to visit wineries all...

Travel Barcelona

Travel Barcelona

I am preparing to go back to Spain soon, and this time I will be making a stop in Barcelona and staying much longer than the last time I visited.  I cannot wait to see the city again and relieve the history and see the amazing sites.  Oh how I love Spain!  the last time I was in Barcelona I obviously visited La Sagrada Familia.  I love that this historic landmark is still in construction and has been for over one hundred and thirty years. Las Ramblas was my favorite street there.  The shops, restaurants, and people were all so wonderful.  I plan on spending many afternoons there when I am in town to take it all in.  The street performers and exhibits are enough to keep me entertained for hours. Of course, the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona is another part...
